This weekend

I don’t think I’ve ever met a person in my life who likes switching to and from Daylight Savings Time. Good grief, just pick one and stick with it! But, here we are and this weekend we spring forward an hour so don’t forget.

Also this weekend we are continuing our End Times sermon series here at Christ Fellowship and we are looking at the next prophetic event to happen after the Rapture and the Tribulation. Revelation 19 tells us about the Second Coming and it is a fascinating subject. And while there are qualities to the Second Coming that are like a Hollywood movie, I have to warn you this passage is not Rated G but you don’t want to miss it!

I can’t wait to see you, family! I love you all! — Todd

Question

Do you ever read the news and think, “These people have lost their ever-loving minds”? Does it seem like people are much less moral these days? Does it seem like church attendance is down for most churches? Do you see Christians acting more like the world than they used to? Why don’t churches have good old-fashioned revivals like they used to?

Those are questions that can be summed up with one prophetic word: apostasy. “Apostasy” means to fall away and it will be more noticeable in the end times. And since we at Christ Fellowship are going through this sermon series on end times, we will look at it this Sunday as we study a fascinating passage in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 that talks about the tribulation, the antichrist and God’s response to the apostates.

Also, I am excited to announce we will be going through the book of Daniel on Wednesday nights at 7. Yes, there are some cool, old stories in there about the lion’s den and the fiery furnace but it also goes right along with our study of end times as well. I hope you can be there!

I love you all! — Todd

New Series

As a pastor, the most common questions I get are on end times. Will our pets be with us in Heaven? How old will we be there? When is Jesus coming again? Will vegetables actually taste good in Heaven? (Okay, that’s my question.) Well, we are starting a new sermon series this Sunday, the 15th, to study this important topic. We may or may not answer all of your questions but we will see what happens between now and eternity and I have found it fascinating so far. So, if you haven’t been to Christ Fellowship in a while, this Sunday is a good day to start back again. We will meet at 10 am and 6 pm to discuss what the Bible says about the end times and why it matters to us today. I can’t wait to see you there. I love you all! — Todd

CF lunch and more…

Lots of exciting things are happening in and around Christ Fellowship these days! This coming Sunday, February 8th, will be our last Sunday in Ephesians learning how to be the church we are supposed to be. And so far, we know we are supposed to be holy and unified and those are difficult enough. But this last one from Ephesians 5 is impossible without being filled with the Spirit of God. (If you have paid any attention, you know none of it is possible without the Spirit living inside us but this last one is a doozy.) Anyway, it’s important that you not miss this.

After the service Sunday, we will have our Valentines excuse to have a meal. Everybody bring enough of your favorite dish for your family and a little more and we want everybody to stay and eat with us. There will be no evening service as usual after our family meal. And evidently the ladies want the men to provide the desserts. 🙂

Every so often, I like to take a look at what scripture tells us about what we call the End Times. So, starting on February 15 we will take a deep dive on Sundays into where the end starts and where the end ends. What are we supposed to do? Where should we be looking? What are the signs? What will happen on Earth? What will happen in Heaven? This is an important study for all believers to have a handle on and I can’t wait to dig into it with you!

I love you all and will see you Sunday! — Todd

Food Pantry

Every few weeks I think I had better send out an email to let folks know the Christ Fellowship church food pantry needs to be stocked up. And every week or two, people just supply it without me asking. Well, it has been hit pretty hard here lately and as you know, the church is the only supplier to our neighborhood food pantry. We don’t advertise it, but pretty much every week our church is able to help needy neighbors. It was originally intended to help meet the needs of just church members but it has expanded – and that’s good. We have always known we are specifically called to minister to the poor, the addicted and the incarcerated and this pantry is a great way to show people we care.

Right now, since we don’t have any other place, it is in my shed at my house. This seems to be working fine for now and if you would like to help with this, it would be greatly appreciated. Just today, two single moms in the neighborhood were able to get some much-needed groceries for their families and I was so blessed to be able to help them with it.

What we don’t need any more of is canned vegetables. Please no more. We have too many. Popular items are bread, milk (1/2 gals), peanut butter, jelly, hot dogs, lunch meat and anything that can be cooked in a microwave or hot plate. Not everybody has stoves and ovens to cook with. Soups and Ramen noodles are great. Canned chili is popular. That kind of stuff. And we often have requests for dog food as well.

Matthew 6 tells us to store up treasures in heaven and that is exactly what you are doing when you give to the Christ Fellowship food pantry. I love you all! — Todd

Unity

Tonto and the Lone Ranger were riding through a canyon together when all of a sudden both sides were filled with Native American warriors on horses, dressed for battle. The Lone Ranger turned to Tonto and asked, “What are we going to do?” Tonto replied, “What you mean ‘we,’ white man?”

I know that’s an old joke but it illustrates the world’s version of unity. The world is unified until it feels the need to not be unified. “I’m with ya brother…unless something happens I don’t like.” Well, the church has a different standard and at Christ Fellowship we are going to see what that standard is this Sunday as we continue our study on what kind of church we should be.

Ephesians chapter 4 gives us four descriptions of the unity of the church and they all start with us as individuals. So, if you, as an individual, aren’t there it already messes up our unity. I know it’s going to be cold but it will be warm inside physically and spiritually. I can’t wait to see you there, especially after this long, cold week! I love you all! — Todd

PS Don’t forget on February 8 we will have a potluck lunch and the men are asked to provide the desserts. 😊

Stupid weather

If you have even looked outside this morning you know there’s no safe way to have church service tomorrow at Christ Fellowship. I went out with the dogs (of course) and it’s crazy slick so let’s stay home tomorrow and we will plan to see you again this coming Wednesday night at 7 pm. I love you all! — Todd

What everyone is talking about…

It’s coming from everywhere. I’m getting notices and alerts and warnings from the TV, radio, phone, internet and friends. Siri and Alexa are busy with it. If you aren’t aware we are about to get hit with a cold storm, you probably aren’t reading this. The news is already calling it “ice apocalypse” and it’s still 45 degrees out there. So…it looks doubtful for our worship time this Sunday but I’m an optimist and who knows what’s going to happen. This is Texas, so who knows? I’ll email and Facebook again tomorrow sometime when we know for sure. If you need help getting your pipes wrapped or if you need anything to help you through this weekend, please let me know. I love you all! — Todd

Power

As we continue our focus on what kind of church we should be, Ephesians chapter three has Paul praying for us to be a church with power. But it might not be the kind of power you think. Join us at Christ Fellowship this Sunday at 10 to find out more.

Also, don’t forget that February 8th is our Valentine’s meal (really just an excuse to eat, but whatever, right?) and the men have been asked to provide the desserts.

There is a gun auction in the building tomorrow (Saturday) starting at 10 am.

Lastly, I am sad to report that Keith Ford has passed away this week after a long struggle with multiple physical issues. His funeral will be graveside only in Runaway Bay at Eternal Oaks cemetery on Port O’Call, Wednesday the 21st at 10 am.

I love you all and am so grateful to God for this church! See ya Sunday! — Todd

What kind of church…

Well, did you make any New Year’s resolutions this year? Lose weight. Get in shape. Go fishing more? People make resolutions to be the person they want to be. But it’s not always the person they should be. Although fishing more would make most people better people. But anyway, we as Christ Fellowship have the opportunity at the beginning of this year to figure out what kind of church we should be in the coming year. Will we make it more about ourselves or about other people or more about God or a combination? Let’s find out together for the next few weeks as we start a new sermon series out of Ephesians. And chapter one is a pretty good place to start to see what our responsibilities are but also what the benefits are.

Also, our Wednesday night Bible study will be cranking up again led by Brian and Belinda Amerman starting at 7 pm on the 7th. I can’t wait to see you and I love you all! — Todd
