Food Pantry

Every few weeks I think I had better send out an email to let folks know the Christ Fellowship church food pantry needs to be stocked up. And every week or two, people just supply it without me asking. Well, it has been hit pretty hard here lately and as you know, the church is the only supplier to our neighborhood food pantry. We don’t advertise it, but pretty much every week our church is able to help needy neighbors. It was originally intended to help meet the needs of just church members but it has expanded – and that’s good. We have always known we are specifically called to minister to the poor, the addicted and the incarcerated and this pantry is a great way to show people we care.

Right now, since we don’t have any other place, it is in my shed at my house. This seems to be working fine for now and if you would like to help with this, it would be greatly appreciated. Just today, two single moms in the neighborhood were able to get some much-needed groceries for their families and I was so blessed to be able to help them with it.

What we don’t need any more of is canned vegetables. Please no more. We have too many. Popular items are bread, milk (1/2 gals), peanut butter, jelly, hot dogs, lunch meat and anything that can be cooked in a microwave or hot plate. Not everybody has stoves and ovens to cook with. Soups and Ramen noodles are great. Canned chili is popular. That kind of stuff. And we often have requests for dog food as well.

Matthew 6 tells us to store up treasures in heaven and that is exactly what you are doing when you give to the Christ Fellowship food pantry. I love you all! — Todd
