We have a lot going on around Christ Fellowship these days and I’m excited to tell you about it. First, this Sunday is our first potluck lunch in the new building. Right after the morning service, we will pull out some tables and chairs and do like it says in Acts 2. There it says the first church, “ate together with glad and sincere hearts…” Just bring whatever you want to eat with enough to share. You might also bring something to drink or some ice but I think we have plenty of plates and utensils.
Then, coming up in September (date to be determined), we will have a CPR / first aid class taught by Dani Davis who owns Wise County Emergency Training School. She has agreed to do the training for free for our church with the only cost being the certification card fee which is $10. Then the church will even cover that cost so you can actually be certified in CPR for no cost. I would encourage all members to take advantage of this even if you don’t plan to use the certification just in case you need the training. Please let me know if you are interested so I can give the trainer a head count. This will probably be on a Friday evening and will last 2-3 hours.
Then coming up this fall, we have the president of Investar Bank, Joe Mitchell, coming to our church to put on a financial seminar having to do with bank / money fraud. It too will be free and open to all so come hear from a professional how to keep your money safe. I’ll let you know later the exact date for this seminar. Again, we would like to be able to give him a head count so let me know if you are interested.
Don’t forget to bring your Operation Christmas Child shoebox gifts to church and put them in the newly made ready cry room. We will continue to promote this until our November packing party.
Lastly, we are continuing our look at the Old Testament heroes this Sunday by studying Elijah the prophet from 1 Kings 18-19. It’s a great story but will also help us learn how to find, have and keep joy.
